The purpose of using guidewires in endourological procedures is to:
- Obtain direct access to the upper urinary tract,
- Straighten the ureter to provide an easier pathway for the insertion of other urological instruments
- Bypass strictures in the ureter
- Secure a pathway within the lumen for the passage of catheters, endoscopes, and other endourological tools.
In the Skamex range, you will find guidewires:
- Made of nitinol with a hydrophilic coating either entirely or on the proximal section to ensure safe insertion in difficult areas without the risk of damaging the ureter,
- Made of stainless steel with an additional Teflon coating to reduce friction,
- Super stiff guidewires made of stainless steel for percutaneous procedures (PCN, catheter exchange).
