The Austrian pharmaceutical company Pharmazeutische Fabrik Montavit GesmbH was founded in 1945. In 1968, the company developed and patented its flagship product – a sterile catheterization gel – CATHEJELL. Currently, a version of Cathejell is available that contains the anesthetic agent lidocaine and the antibacterial agent chlorhexidine.
