The main headquarters is located in New Jersey (United States). In Poland, there has been a branch in Warsaw since 1992. In 2008, ConvaTec merged with Danish Unomedical, and in 2012, ConvaTec acquired 180 Medical. The company's name is derived from the words "Convalescent Technology."

The company supplies advanced dressings and technologies for the treatment of both chronic and acute wounds, as well as devices and accessories for individuals with stomas. Most notably, its most recognizable dressings include hydrofiber, hydrogel, alginate, polyurethane foam, and hydrocolloid dressings: Aquacel, Aquacel Foam, Granugel, Granuflex, Kaltostat.

ConvaTec holds a leading position in stoma care, wound treatment, hospital care, and the production of infusion devices. ConvaTec also provides products and services for individuals with urinary incontinence and other intensive care devices, as well as disposable infusion kits used in insulin pump therapy for people with diabetes. The Hydrofiber technology accelerates wound healing, has gelling properties, and inhibits bacterial growth. Hydrocolloid dressings create a moist environment, which is optimal for proper wound healing. These types of dressings are also often used for burn injuries. Alginate dressings, on the other hand, are used for bleeding wounds or chronic wounds.
